The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS)

National Injury Insurance Scheme | White Jordin Lawyers

The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) has been progressively taking effect in Queensland since January 2016 and will be operating state-wide by July 2019. This newsletter provides information about how the NDIS works, how you may become a participant of the scheme and requirements you may have to comply with if you have suffered an injury.

What is the NDIS?

Under the NDIS, the block funding provided to disability service provider organisations by the government will instead be provided to individuals with disabilities based on their individual needs. This gives individuals with a disability a greater choice and control over when, where and how they receive the support they need.
